Art as an Anchor: An Art-Making Workshop for Recovery

Join us for this creative virtual workshop learning how to connect with yourself, express feeling, and find a sense of calm through Art Therapy. No experience necessary!

Our guest speaker, Taylor Beardsall, Board Certified Art Therapist (ATR-BC) and yoga therapist, will guide you through this creative, grounding workshop.

Using materials you likely have at home, you will be led to create meaningful and mindful art pieces to support connecting with yourself, expressing feeling, and finding a sense of calm. You will be introduced to Neurographica, a technique for nervous system regulation. This session focuses on process over product: you cannot mess it up! No experience necessary.

Topics include:

  • Using art as a tool for nervous system regulation and mindfulness
  • Exploring Neurographica as a grounding creative practice
  • Psychoeducation woven throughout the art-making process

Suggested supplies include:

  • Paper (watercolor paper or mixed media, 2 sheets)
  • Permanent marker
  • Watercolor paint, if available
  • Something to add color (markers, colored pencils, oil pastels, etc.)
  • A small rock or stone
  • Something to write with (pen or pencil)

Upon registration, you will receive additional program details and log-in information

The KHF Guest Speaker Workshop is a group intended to be a collaborative space for participants to learn and discuss psychosocial skills, nutrition skills, and daily activities that may present a challenge in their eating disorder recovery. The guest speaker may bring a topic for discussion in his/her field of specialty or may use his/her own testimony of recovery, as a teaching tool and encouragement to participants.

The group is being offered at a discounted cost, and all proceeds will benefit eating disorder scholarships.
